Behind The Scenes 💔

My personal DGR-story  begins in the year 2016. 

The first year I actually wanted to participate at the DGR.  But in 2016 I was a silly girl and  thought everything would be fine again.  So I even failed in 2017 still thinking that there would be no serious consequences. How wrong I was!  In 2018 and 2019 I didn't manage to do it because the pain was still present...it just hurted too much and I felt too weak to face the whole situation on the DGR. 

My Dad died in march 2018! 

He was killed by cancer, he was killed fast and insidious only 4 weeks after feeling a slight pain in the right half of his body near by the liver.  The story behind started in early 2016. My Dad was diagnosed with PROSTATE CANCER. After  an operation with unforeseen complications and a hormonotherapy he was presumed to be healed. The cancer struck back 2 years later...and changed everything...  

As we all know DGR was forced to pause  in 2020 and 2021 due to Corona.   But also in 2022 destiny took it's course: I lost my beloved Mum!  Another punch in the gut...another ugly experience with this lousy little disease called cancer...  After sorting it all out and having loads of hard times 2024 I'm finally in! No more excuses! Even more because it's just a few weeks ago that one of my best riding buddies was diagnosed prostate cancer... 

So please use the possibility of preventive check-ups! It's so important because nobody wants to loose his beloved Dad, husband, brother, family member or friend.  And if you don't want to do it for yourselfes...just do it for your beloved ones! 

Damn guys...just take care of yourself!!!

Ich bin dabei: The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

Am Sonntag, den 19. Mai 2024 (Pfingstsonntag), nehme ich zusammen mit Tausenden anderer Männer und Frauen aus aller Welt am "The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride" teil, um im Namen des Projekts Movember Geldmittel und Bewusstsein für Prostatakrebs und die psychische Gesundheit von Männern zu sammeln. Männer sterben im Durchschnitt 6 Jahre früher als Frauen, und das mitunter aus vermeidbaren Gründen. Die Zahl der Männer, die darunter leiden, wächst, aber wir können etwas dagegen tun. Bevor ich also meinen feinen Zwirn auspacke und meine Stiefel poliere, möchte ich Dich bitten, dich mir anzuschließen, um Spenden zu sammeln und das Bewusstsein für diese Anliegen zu schärfen. Eine schöne Gelegenheit, um den Männern, die wir lieben, zu helfen ein glücklicheres und gesünderes Leben zu führen. :-)
