Santa Cruz, Ca— ride canceled. :(

Monday 29th Apr 2024

It was with dismay that I looked up the ride details for my local ride and discovered that it had been canceled. There were only a few of us that had signed up and I guess the organizers didn't have the volunteers required to pull it together for this year.  Sadly I cast out to find a ride nearby. I am lucky to have options roughy equidistant from my location.  I could join the large ride in the city of San Jose or the smaller ride in Monterey. Since my local Santa Cruz ride was going to be based in my small beach town, I decided that Monterey would be the closer fit.  Now I get the bonus miles! I have reached out and plan to volunteer early next year to get Santa Cruz rolling, but for now I am excited to ride with folks from the southern end of the bay.  Hopefully some other Santa Cruz gents do the same!  Donate!

Returning rider new to DGR

Saturday 6th Apr 2024

I had a motorcycle for a short time when I was younger.  I learned to ride and rode it to classes and felt like a king.  Fast forward 20 something years and the urge to ride returned.  I was able to buy my motorcycle less than a year ago and it has made a huge difference to my happiness being back in the saddle. I was drawn to my bike because it is a modern retro and when people walk up to check it out I tell them it only looks old, like me!  I am looking forward to riding on the DGR. This will be my first chance to participate and get to know some of the classic and retro riders in town. Hopefully I don't crash into anyone! Donate if you can, it is a great cause, and if I raise enough money I can get in the drawing to win a Triumph!

I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

Friday 22nd Mar 2024 On Sunday the 19th of May 2024, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives.
