Jaro’s 2024 DGR

Dear friends, my fellow gentlefolk!

On the 19th of May, I will partake in The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (DGR) with like-minded men and women across the globe to raise awareness for men’s mental health and prostate cancer.

The DGR is a fantastic charitable event working side by side with Movember charity, having raised $45 million for actionable research into men’s health since its inception in 2012. Every year it unites classic motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the world who ride together in their dapper attires through their hometowns to fundraise for DGR’s noble cause and, importantly, raise awareness about two widespread health issues men face these days.

Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men and regular conversations and checkups with one's doctor should start as soon as at the age of 40-45. It is a type of cancer that often grows slowly and can go unnoticed, therefore catching it early is ever so important.

Another silent killer of a modern man is mental health. Globally, we lose one man to suicide every minute of every day. Starting conversations with men who are struggling is often daunting. At the end of the day, most men have been brought up in a spirit of ‘just get on with it’. We should be reminded that just a humble conversation and getting someone to open up can change or even save a life.

Well, my dear gentlefolk, thank you for having kept reading all the way to this point. I hope, I managed to show you that together we can make this world a little bit better for the men we care about and help them live happier and healthier lives. I’ll be very grateful if you decide to join me in raising funds for this meaningful cause, but, most importantly, it will make me truly happy if you just spread the word.
