Cold and Wet in Edmonton - But brave riders persevered!

Here is a photo of a very dapper, albeit damper and chilled Distinguished Gentleman who participated in this years DGR in Edmonton.

He is riding a mid 80s modified K100 cafe racer.  I caught him as he left the Longroof Brewing Co apres-ride meeting and he graciously agreed to a snap. 

Very Dapper indeed!

A great 2024 Distinguished Gentlemen's Ride!

What a great ride! 

Wisely, I chose all my wet-weather riding gear to put over my dress-shirt and tie ensemble - glad I did! Some brave souls were very dapper in full dress suits - but man, they got a chilly soaking!

The weather was challenging, +7C-ish with on-off drizzle and light rain.  Chill inducing at speed, and a mite annoying while standing around, but hey, every day is a great day on a motorcycle. Got to keep remembering that are no "bad days" on a motorcycle, just the consequence of poor clothing choices.  

I'd estimate 80 or so riders - on machines spanky-brand new to machines 40 years old.  Riders ranged from early 20s to early 80s.  Everyone had a great time - full props to the organizers of this years ride. I'll be back!  :) 

Thanks as well to the Longroof Brewing for their hospitality after the ride and to the staff at Caffe Sole for coffees and hot drinks before the ride commenced.

I'm so looking forward to this year's Distinguished Gentlemen's Ride!

I'm looking forward to meeting other riders and celebrating our common interest in motorcycling and men's health. 

As a son, father, uncle, nephew and husband, I am committed to men's health initiatives - not only in my narrow self interest, but for all men in our community.  If we are healthy, we can be our best selves for the loved ones in our lives.

I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

Friday 17th May 2024 On Sunday the 19th of May 2024, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives.
