Hi all - sadly this is a post I have been putting off all week.

Regret to say I am back in Hospital after my GP decided on Tuesday I needed to be reviewed by a er… ‘Doctor’

Doctors at Glenfield Hospital have said my blood tests showed infection markers so off they went to be cultured…. The Doc said the culture was to rule out Sepsis which once you’ve had it, can lurk in your system.

I am being shot with large doses of 2 types of I/v Antibiotics twice a day and the temperature spikes seem to be reducing. 🤞

I’m still very fatigued all the time and eating little due to ongoing nausea.

Sorry about this folks, I’ve had no treatment since February so the disease is on the rampage ….. but at the moment it can “Do One !!” - I have stuff to do, people to see and places to be 😎🏍️

I was lined up for yet another round of Palliative chemo on Thursday this week, but obviously that’s now been pushed back.

Consultants said on Friday my infection markers, whilst lower, are still way too high, so in hospital I must stay.😳☹️😢

However …… after negotiations and providing there is no further health crisis, they have agreed I can escape for a few hours on Sunday to see the Leicester group off and to be there when they get to the half way point.

Then I have to return to Glenfield Hospital for afternoon meds -so I won’t be at the end gathering / party/ raffle etc… 😔😣

My Big Bruv Andy and his Wife Flo have decided to drive up from Newbury on Saturday vs ride up on their Gold Star.

Ive asked and Andy’s agreed to channel his little Bruv for the day and ride Bonnie (His Bike anyway but sort of ours over the last couple of years ) in the DGR with Flo on pillion.

They are true stars for stepping up and representing me on The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride 2024 and being the Issitts aboard 'Bonnie', earning all the amazing donations that continue to come my way.

I am very humbled and delighted with the level of donations that have come my way from wonderful and generous people.

My health has been very challenging of late but I am 100% motivated by the support I have received and will be on the starting line for the DGR 2024.

I have been a direct beneficiary of the medical innovations in the treatment of Advanced metastatic prostate cancer.

 I don't know if the DGR funding has supported the medical teams that have helped me but the care I have received has been outstanding.

The treatment I have received in the clinical trial is the type of activity that monies raised through the DGR program and Movember seeks to support.

If you have already donated, you have my sincere thanks and if you are reading this blog, please know that any money you do contribute could well go to extending a life like mine 🥰

The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride 2024

Monday 25th Mar 2024

Many will be aware of my situation and hence my genuine desire to support this amazing organisation.

 
I am planning (+ hoping) to be fit enough to ride with friends and family on Sunday the 19th of May 2024, in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride Leicester.
 
With fellow men and women across the globe the aim again is to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. 
 
Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons and catching Prostate Cancer early is critical to survival longer term. 
 
Sadly the number of men like myself that miss the opportunity and are suffering is growing - we need to do something about that 👍
 
So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds for DGR to support the medical teams striving on the leading edge to make new breakthroughs.
