I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

Motorcycles can be like a virus but in a good way, once they enter your system they never really go away. It can lay dormant for years and then come back at any time, as was the case with me. I hadn't ridden for years, now and again I'd think about getting another bike but it wasn't until I sponsored a friend in last year’s DGR that really got me thinking about bikes and how much I loved riding them and how it made me feel and everything about them. It also made me remember all the good times I had riding with my brother and how riding gave me the ability to go places and see things that weren’t possible before. My Dad and brother both rode at points in their lives, both are gone now and both could've benefitted from one of the goals of the DGR, raising awareness around men’s mental health issues and breaking the stigma of toughing it out and not talking about things, or seeking help. Last year I returned to the fold, got my dream bike and this year I’m in the DGR.

On Sunday the 19th of May 2024, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives.
