The Day is Done !

My tenth DGR in the glorious Kent sunshine. Great ride with some new and old faces seen. 
Over £10500 raised in all that time and going to support Prostate Cancer research ...so dear to me with my latest treatment from Guys finishing only a few days earlier. 
The photo shows two of the increasing number of Distinguished Ladies (with fine moustaches) kind enough to pose with me in the sunshine.

A spectacular increase in donations from those who have supported me these last ten years. Some of them each and every year since my first ride in 2015, which started on wasteland near Borough Market in London.

Treatment at Guys Completed

Yesterday saw my 20th and final treatment at Guys Cancer Centre (QMH). 
Quite an emotional goodbye to the wonderful staff there who have been brilliant throughout. 
Review on 3rd June as to how I am .... then defining Oncology appointment 29th August.

For now..... the focus is on Sunday and my 10th and most poignant DGR. 

First ride out since treatment started !

29 miles is no distance .. yet it was a delight to get out on my bike for a couple of hours while my treatment at Guys is still happening.

Coffee in Sevenoaks .... and then later a pint of Guinness Zero at the Chaser Pub in Shipbourne. Glorious sunshine throughout.

Amazing support these last few days as I pass my aimed total for this year .... meaning I have now raised £10k after 10 yrs of taking part in DGR .... and that amount is still rising.

Next phase of treatment starts tomorrow

A big thank you to all family, friends and ex-colleagues for their kind words and much valued support these last six months.

Tomorrow at 8am the next stage of treatment starts at Guys Cancer Centre [Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup].... and continues until May 15th. 

10yrs and £10000 ?

It's my tenth DGR and I'm hoping to raise enough this year to reach (or exceed ?) £10000 as my grand total over the decade of my fundraising.

I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

On Sunday the 19th of May 2024, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember.

This will be my 10th ride and in a year when the brilliant Oncology team have upped their treatment to tackle my cancer. Big thanks to Beckenham Beacon Hospital & Guys Cancer Centre at Queen Mary's Hospital for all they are doing.

Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that.

So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we all know and love to live happier, healthier and hopefully longer lives ..... and I can give something back to help fund the research and support programmes for the many future patients with prostate cancer.
