As I get prepared for the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride I could not help but notice a sudden drop in the temperature from +16c to -2c  and 2 inches of snow! Well while I wait for better weather to prepare my ride (a Triumph Bonneville America) for the DGR 2044 I got a haircut and trimmed my beard, as a distinguished gentleman must be well coiffed as well as nicely dressed. According to the weather network the temperatures will return to double digits this week and that should prevent any more unsightly snow.

The older a man, the more likely he is to be diagnosed with prostate cancer. If you’re 50 or over, chat with your doctor about PSA testing.  (for me 50 isn't old thats the age I started Martial Arts)

Enough about me lets talk about the ride, it will take place on Sunday the 19th of May 2024. Riders as always will be encouraged to dress dapper. We will Dress dapper but try and stay cool if the weather is hot. This year the ride will be escorted by Calgary Police Services. Riders who are not riding style approved bikes must ride at the end of the group and in front of the sweeper and safety vehicle.

Just as each year since 2015 I am in the DGR to raise awareness (and some money) for prostate cancer research and change perceptions around men's mental health. This event started a bit small in Australia but has grown too large globally so we have joined forces with the Movember foundation (to allow the professionals at Movember to administer the detailed stuff so we can focus on the rides). Since 2012 when it first started the DGR has raised USD $46.2 Million for Men's Health (by 340,000 Classic and Vintage Riders in 107 Countries Around the World), these funds are invested by our partner, Movember, which is the world’s largest men’s health organization. The funds are for cutting-edge research into prostate cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention programs, as part of our mission to support men’s health globally.

I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

Wednesday 10th Apr 2024 On Sunday the 19th of May 2024, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives.
