DRG buddy
Monday 20th May 2024Last year, Christopher parked his Vespa beside me and we ending up hanging out for the ride. This year, we sought out each other and hung around again. It was great to catch up. He's a cool guy.
What a day !!!
Monday 20th May 2024Today was ride day. The weather was great. There was terrific turn out - around 500 bikes. And there was good media coverage. I've already seen a piece from CBC.
What was fun was the number of people with dogs in sidecars. What a mellow bunch. One commented that his dog simply went to sleep when he started the engine. My riding buddy Christopher says that he'll be riding with his Yorkie next year - maybe in a snuggly :-).
Of course, we can't forget that this ride is to support research and awareness into prostate cancer and men's mental health. Both of which have touched close to home. In one case, tragically.
Thanks for your support of my ride and these really important causes. I pleased to have made my goal (interestingly, a goal that was set for me by DRG :-) )
My complements to the ride organizers - Paul and Eric. And to our ever present photographer - Dan from The MotoFoto.
'til next year.
Finally getting going
Friday 10th May 2024I'm not sure where the time has gone. All of a sudden we're 10 days out from the ride and I haven't done anything. Well, that's not entirely true. I have got the trusty Triumph out and got her running. I did a short ride up to Unionville to meet friends but I need to practice ride some more to shake off the remaining cobwebs. Next, I need to dig out an appropriate dapper jacket. Hopefully one that still fits.
In the meantime, I am hoping that a couple of emails and a Facebook post will result in some donations to an extremely worthwhile cause that supports both men's mental health and prostate cancer. Friends and family have been touched by both in sometimes tragic ways. Let's work to stop it.
As in previous years, I'm riding for my buddy Mark C from Halifax and for a special old guy.
I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride
Wednesday 27th Mar 2024 On Sunday the 19th of May 2024, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives. My Sponsors
