A Ride with Purpose
Friday 17th May 2024A few years ago my parter, Erik, introduced me to both motorcycles and to an annual event that he has supported for some time called The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride (DGR) - FYI, www.gentleman's ride.com. I had never heard of it but was immediately interested when I realized that their goal is to raise awareness and support - through fundraising and other important initiatives- for men's mental health and prostate cancer, which is especially common in men over 50. I'm a partner to a wonderful man, a sister to an amazingly talented brother, an aunt to two pretty incredible nephews, a cousin to fantastic men both younger and older, and last but not least a mother to three gifts, sons who inspire me in my life and for whom I am so grateful, every day. Their wellbeing matters tremendously to me personally. More broadly, supporting men in our society - members of families, communities, our country - is equally critical to the charitable work done for women, children and us all.
This weekend, on Sunday morning, I will be putting on my best Gentlewoman's riding outfit and riding in the DGR for the first time alongside Erik and men and women all over the globe in support of this worthy cause. Like so many others, my life's journey has been rocked by cancer in some of it's many forms and I'm honored to be able to do any small thing to help combat this disease, and to let those who struggle know that all over the world ordinary people like me care. Care about their lives and what they may be going through. Care about their physical and mental health. And we ride for them all.
I hope that if you are moved to support in some way while reading this you will consider donating any amount. On behalf of all of the wonderful men in my life, thank you.
I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride
Tuesday 14th May 2024 On Sunday the 19th of May 2024, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives. My Sponsors
